Event Information
Summary:
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) is the world's largest social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles -- and some would say, the world's largest family. Dedicated to their motto, Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge, GWRRA members enjoy the freedom of belonging to a not-for-profit, non-religious and non-political organization. Founded in 1977, GWRRA has grown to more than 72,000 U.S., Canadian and international members in 53 foreign countries in just 34 years. Over 800 active Chapters are managed by 4,000 volunteer leaders working with members to foster safe, enjoyable riding while also working to improve the public image of motorcycling.

Why Fort Wayne:
As a nation-wide organization, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association has held their convention in several cities across the United States, choosing communities that met their needs and wants, including being able to host city-wide event, offering a large venue with thousands of parking spaces, and hotel rooms with affordable rates. Back in 2000, local advocate and then-GWRAA President Mike Wright and the Visit Fort Wayne Sales Team stepped up in the bidding process with an impressive presentation. After a site visit by GWRRA members, Fort Wayne was awarded the Annual Wing Ding Convention in 2002. Thanks to a successful convention in 2002, the group returned to Fort Wayne in 2005 and 2012.
