Visit Fort Wayne Marketing and Social Media Internship

This position will assist the Marketing & Communications Department with writing, content marketing, social media, digital communications, and marketing research.

Time Requirements

Beginning in May and ending in August, this internship has a flexible time requirement and can be set for a minimum of 12-15 hours per week and a maximum of 20-23 hours per week for 14 weeks. Students must be able to work within a consistent schedule during normal office hours (preferably 3-4 days/week - dates and days worked can be flexible.)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of Fort Wayne, Indiana as a leisure and convention destination.
  • Assist with researching, creating, and updating blog posts, web content, print content, and social media content.
  • Assist with regional radio promotional efforts.
  • Assist with various social media campaigns for visitors and residents on multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Participate in brainstorming for marketing and social media campaigns and initiatives.
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and participation of CVB events and tourism-related projects.
  • Participate in photo and video projects by aiding in planning, production, and editing.
  • Research, maintain, and collect contact information for media lists and other databases
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Junior academic level preferred
  • Major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Social Media, or Public Relations preferred
  • Strong vocabulary, grammar, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Awareness and experience in marketing, public relations, and social media marketing will be helpful
  • Exceptional knowledge and interest in the greater Fort Wayne area, including attractions, arts and cultural institutions, events, restaurants, etc.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite preferred (not required)

 

Compensation

The intern will receive a stipend of $9.50/ hour. We will strive to optimize recognition and networking opportunities, and approve school credit where appropriate.
